| Patient Safety Companion (PSC) |
The PSC provides constant observation for pts. at risk for various reasons. The PSC remains with the patient at all times and intervenes when necessary in order prevent the patient from possible physical injury or patient elopement. |
| Phlebotomists | Phlebotomists must be able to proficiently draw blood and obtain other specimens on patients of all ages. Phlebotomists must also be able to effectively communicate with the ordering licensed health provider as well as follow CDC and OSHA recommendations/requirements. |
| Surgical Technicians | Surgical Technicians assist during procedures/surgery under the supervision of MD’s, RN’s and other surgical personnel. Responsibilities may include setting up the operating room, assisting with instruments during surgery and counting them at the conclusion. Patient interaction including transport to and from the OR requires empathetic professional communication skills. |
| Echo Technicians | Echo Technicians perform echo tests on patients that are used by doctors in order to diagnose and treat internal diseases and conditions. These tests can be performed on different parts of the body. Echo techs must be able to communicate professionally with patients and frequently get a patient history prior to the test. Echo techs must make sure the image is clear and ready for the doctor to read. |
| Ultrasound Technicians | Ultrasound Technicians use specialized equipment that directing sound waves into tissues to produce images of structures in the body that help physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Professional communication skills are needed in order to obtain histories and patient cooperation during the procedure. |
| Medical Laboratory Technician | Received and processed specimens for laboratory tests; accessioned specimens and ordered patient samples; prepared equipment, reagents and supplies for laboratory testing; performed routine laboratory tests in urinalysis, hematology, blood bank, immunology and serology; ran appropriate quality control; calculated, reviewed and reported results. |
| Medical Laboratory Specialist | Responsible for groups of personnel of up to 10. Performed venipunctures on personnel and families. Received and logged requests for laboratory tests; collected labels and accessioned specimens; prepared equipment, reagents and supplies for routine laboratory testing; performed routine laboratory tests in urinalysis, hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, blood bank and serology; ran appropriate quality control; calculated and reported results of analyses, performed preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment. |
